EQWIP HUBs Mwanza Youth Forum

On June 9, 2018, EQWIP HUBs Mwanza held an exciting and highly successful event titled the Mwanza Youth Forum. This event brought together 6 youth organisations; PACT, Mwanza Youth and Children’s Centre, VSO, Lulu Project, Foundation DART, and EQWIP HUBs Mwanza. Each of these organisations brought youth and staff to attend the forum and see the opportunities that are available from the different organisations.

3panel discussions were held covering the topics of gender, environment, and innovation/entrepreneurship. Panel members included staff and students from our local partner the Institute of Rural Development Planning, Lake Zone Centre, SimuSolar (a local solar company), members of the HUB Network, and successful Youth Innovation Fund recipients. After each panel, audience members had an opportunity to ask questions of the panel members which was a huge hit with the youth.

The Mwanza Youth Forum was attended by approximately 200 youth who were attentive and engaged in the event. Each of the panelists received many excellent questions from the audience and shared their knowledge and experience with the youth. Local leaders including the deputy mayor of Mwanza attended the event and spoke highly of the work that each of the organisations are doing for youth in Mwanza.

All organisations in attendance had a chance to network amongst themselves and build lasting connections to jointly further the goals of empowering sustainable youth livelihoods in Mwanza. EQWIP HUBs Mwanza expresses its sincere thanks to all who attended and the complementary work that each of the organisations in attendance are doing for youth in Mwanza.
