Stories from EQWIP HUBs Tanzania - Aisha

by Andrew Inglis in Entrepreneurship, 25 September 2017, 05:52 AM

EQWIP HUBs training provides many opportunities for a wide variety of people. For some, it helps them to develop a mindset for innovation like Peter and reusing waste products to make charcoal. For Aisha, it enabled her to start a shop selling beauty products such as make up and wigs. Her shop is located in Kitangiri, Mwanza which is a busy transit corridor with many busses and people travelling through. Aisha describes the best part of her business as social interaction; she enjoys serving customers and advising them on what looks best.

The inspiration for her business arose from her mother who instilled in her a love of beauty products. EQWIP HUBs gave her critical skills for her business including communication skills, financial management, and an understanding of how to build a customer base and keep them coming back.

She describes EQWIP HUBs as helping her to identify herself and turning her into a progressive woman. She extolls the benefits of EQWIP HUBs training whenever she can to youth in the Kitangiri region of Mwanza and said that many have joined. Her message for future entrepreneurs is to know that “entrepreneurship is a long journey that requires dedication and a clear mind; you can’t let your emotions get in the way”. Her dream is to continue to grow her business to provide a stable livelihood for herself.
